Morning sickness lasted all day. Why is it called morning sickness? The nausea never went away and it was hard to get anything done. IV Hydration is a clean service, you should try it, too.

I was so excited to be pregnant, but couldn’t believe how tired I was all the time. And the fatigue was impacting my training for my NYC Marathon run. Then a friend suggested I try IV Hydration. It is such a cozy place. Wow.
How morning sickness IV drip works
According to research, 8 of 10 pregnant women experience nausea and vomiting. This condition is described as morning sickness, but despite its name, it can occur at any time of day.
Symptoms can range from mild (infrequent episodes of nausea or vomiting, usually occurring in the morning) to severe (frequent, persistent nausea or vomiting that can occur anytime and may last throughout pregnancy). The latter can cause severe dehydration, weight loss in the mother, and malnutrition in the unborn baby, and therefore requires medical attention.
In most cases, morning sickness begins by the 4th week of pregnancy and improves or disappears by the 16th week.
Morning sickness IV therapy will help relieve pregnancy-related nausea, dizziness, and fatigue and prevent dehydration and related complications, improving a pregnant woman’s quality of life and allowing her to get the most out of what can be a wonderful experience.
Let’s discuss the benefits of this IV therapy in more detail.
Most pregnant women experience nausea and vomiting (morning sickness) during the first three months of pregnancy. It is uncomfortable and can significantly affect their daily activities, productivity, and mood. Additionally, morning sickness can cause dehydration and weight loss, and in severe cases (hyperemesis gravidarum), it can lead to health problems for the mother, premature labor, and the birth of a low-birth-weight baby.
Given the prevalence of morning sickness and its potential impact on the health and overall well-being of pregnant women, we have added vitamin B6 (pyridoxine) and an anti-nausea medication (Zofran) to this IV drip. These ingredients help relieve nausea and prevent dehydration and weight loss.
Please note: although Zofran use in the first three months of pregnancy has not been found to be associated with birth defects, adding this drug to IV therapy requires approval from your ob-gyn.
The fluid in the morning sickness IV drip can, independently of Zofran, relieve nausea by preventing or treating dehydration, which is known to cause or worsen nausea.
Excessive fluid loss through vomiting can quickly lead to dehydration and electrolyte imbalance. This, in turn, can lead to fatigue, weakness, headaches, muscle cramps, and digestive problems. Moreover, as mentioned above, dehydration caused by vomiting can itself cause nausea and vomiting; it’s a cycle that negatively affects the overall pregnancy experience.
Adequate hydration is not only good for the mother but also needed to support normal development of the baby. Here’s how:
- Water carries nutrients and oxygen to the developing baby
- Dehydration is a risk factor for preterm labor
- Hydration helps maintain optimal levels of amniotic fluid, which surrounds and protects the fetus during pregnancy
- Staying hydrated will help prevent blood clots, which can lead to pregnancy complications and miscarriage
The fluid in this IV drip will help to immediately resolve dehydration, improve electrolyte balance, and prevent associated health complications.
Fatigue and general weakness are experienced by most pregnant women. Constant fatigue is mainly felt in the first and third trimesters of pregnancy and can range from mild tiredness to extreme exhaustion. It can significantly affect mental and physical performance. It can be caused by one or more of the following factors:
- Hormonal changes caused by pregnancy, especially higher levels of progesterone, which has a sedative effect (a calming effect that makes you sleepy and tired)
- Nausea and vomiting, which can cause nutritional deficiencies and dehydration, reducing vitality and mental clarity
- Sleep problems, which affect over 60% of pregnant women
- Emotional and psychological changes that can be mentally and physically draining
- Extra nutritional needs, which can reduce overall energy levels if you have a poor diet or increased calorie expenditure
- Increased blood volume that makes your heart work harder, resulting in tiredness
The B vitamins included in this IV therapy help convert food into energy and deliver energy to cells, preventing or reducing physical and mental fatigue. Additionally, IV fluid administered directly into your bloodstream will help your metabolism and relieve fatigue and brain fog caused by dehydration.
A pregnant woman’s immune system undergoes major changes, making her more susceptible to various infections, including but not limited to flu, pneumonia, and urinary tract infections. Moreover, pregnant women are also more likely to suffer from severe complications of these infections, which can become a serious cause for concern, especially in the first three months of fetal development.
The B vitamins contained in our morning sickness IV therapy are intended to boost your immunity by increasing the amount of energy available to immune cells, protecting them from damage and stimulating DNA synthesis and repair. In addition, vitamin B6 is known to improve emotional well-being and relieve stress, which indirectly supports the functioning of the immune system because stress hormones suppress the immune system.
Ingredients of morning sickness IV drip
In developing our IV therapy for pregnant women, we carefully selected ingredients that will not harm the baby or expectant mother and that will relieve the most common health problems of pregnant women, allowing them to feel only the positive aspects of pregnancy, increasing their energy, and helping them be mentally and physically prepared for labor.
Let's talk about the properties of these ingredients in more detail.
Adequate hydration is a must for the well-being of both the expectant mother and developing baby. IV fluid (normal saline), a mixture of minerals and water, will help provide immediate, long-lasting hydration and optimal electrolyte balance, which are usually affected by morning sickness. It will also help to fight dehydration-related symptoms such as fatigue, nausea, headache, and lack of concentration.
In addition, IV fluid is an excellent option for pregnant women with ongoing infection and fever. It will help reduce their temperature and promote a quick recovery.
B vitamins play an important role in supporting a healthy pregnancy and ensuring the normal development of the baby. These vitamins help to do these things:
- Prevent neural tube defects such as spina bifida (B9) (the neural tube later forms the brain and spinal cord)
- Reduce nausea and vomiting (B6)
- Promote metabolism of nutrients, contributing to adequate nutrition and development of the baby (B1, B2, B3)
- Support a healthy nervous system in the mother and participate in development of the baby’s brain and nervous system (B1, B6)
- Boost energy and help manage pregnancy-related fatigue and sleepiness (B1, B2, B3, B6, B7)
In other words, vitamin B complex contained in this IV drip will help to alleviate pregnancy-induced stress, fatigue, and nausea, while promoting the healthy development of the baby.
Anti-nausea and anti-vomiting medicine as part of IV administration brings instant relief from nausea and vomiting and is commonly prescribed to pregnant women with severe morning sickness (hyperemesis gravidarum). This medication also helps expectant mothers tolerate food and promotes better nutrition for mother and baby. Moreover, by preventing vomiting, anti-nausea medications restore electrolyte balance and prevent dehydration and weight loss, which can interfere with the normal functioning of the mother’s body and the baby’s development.
FAQs
Learn more about your IV therapy session
“Morning sickness” is the term used to describe nausea and vomiting in pregnant women. It usually occurs during the first three months of the pregnancy, but in some cases, it can continue throughout pregnancy.
About 3% of women with morning sickness suffer from a severe form of it, which is called hyperemesis gravidarum. In addition to experiencing frequent vomiting and severe dehydration, these women may lose more than 5% of their body weight, which may require medical attention and special treatment.
To date, the exact causes of morning sickness are unknown. It is believed that morning sickness can be caused by hormonal changes as well as factors such as stress, blood pressure fluctuations, slow digestion, increased sensitivity to odors, susceptibility to migraines or motion sickness, and food aversions caused by pregnancy.
Yes! In fact, the ingredients in our IV drip are essential for proper hydration and a healthy pregnancy. Some of the vitamins, such as vitamin B9 (folate), are even prescribed to every pregnant woman to prevent birth defects and otherwise support normal development of the baby. What’s more, these essential components will go straight into your bloodstream for instant nutrition, hydration, energy boost, and nausea relief.
Before starting IV therapy, our trained medical professionals will check your blood pressure and temperature and discuss your personal sensitivity to the therapy’s ingredients. We may also require your ob-gyn’s permission to use certain add-ons.
Most pregnant women will benefit from this IV therapy, as it immediately restores much-needed fluids, minerals, and vitamins to the mother’s bloodstream and supports the normal development of the baby and the well-being of the mother. This procedure is especially recommended for pregnant women who have any of these problems:
- Frequent vomiting
- Weight loss
- Dehydration
- Fatigue
- Nutrient deficiency
- Intolerance to odors, foods, and beverages
And this procedure will greatly benefit women who work while pregnant, have many household responsibilities, or simply have a busy schedule and cannot afford to sleep all day or allow nausea and vomiting to interfere with their day-to-day activities.
The duration of the effect of IV therapy varies from person to person, mainly based on individual needs and the severity of morning sickness. Typically, therapy provides optimal hydration, essential nutrients, and energy for several days.
Rarely, people may have allergic reaction to vitamin B. This can result in these symptoms:
- Skin rash
- Nausea and vomiting
- Swelling of the lips, tongue, throat, and face
- Difficulty breathing
Please notify our health provider of any allergies, chronic conditions, and medications you’re taking before undergoing IV therapy.
You will also need to complete a medical form, which will be reviewed by our healthcare provider, who will decide whether it’s safe for you to get the morning sickness IV drip.
Please note: although Zofran has not been found to cause miscarriage, premature birth, or low birth weight, there is a very low risk (0.03%) that it may cause certain birth defects, namely cleft palate and heart defects. Therefore, consult with your ob-gyn to understand the risks and benefits of adding Zofran to your IV therapy.
Our morning sickness IV drip costs $299.
